EDITORIAL TRANSPARENCY
The sources.
The method. The context.
The pages distinguish information about the commercial variant from general criteria for understanding and caring for a stone surface.
Product information.
Pietrarredo variants were checked on 19 October 2026. Format, finish and intended uses relate to the linked product information; stock quantities and terms of sale may change.
The options are commercial ranges and formats, rather than a classification of geological species: Misto Contadino is a commercial blend; strips, Scozzese and Slim describe formats and compositions. Terracotta brick slips are ceramic materials; flexible sheets combine a stone surface with synthetic backings. The Luserna Quartzite 20×55 cm model combines natural stone flakes with a cement backing. We do not assign hardness scores or performance rankings without comparable tests on the product.
Institutional technical references.
Universities, research bodies and geological services provide references on stone characterisation, testing and conservation. Results from studied samples do not automatically certify Pietrarredo products.
- Politecnico di Torino · Natural Stone Testing (new tab)
Test methods for absorption, flexural strength, frost, breaking load at anchorages and other properties. The methods help interpret technical information; they do not certify the linked products.
- CNR–IGG · Cultural Heritage Laboratory (new tab)
Characterisation, absorption, deterioration, cleaning and protection of stone surfaces. Highlights the importance of product compatibility with the material.
- Regione Piemonte · Petrographic and Technical Data Sheets (PDF) (new tab)
Data sheets on Piedmontese stones, including Luserna Stone. The analyses concern the samples described, rather than all commercial selections with similar names.
- ISPRA · Geological Map, Sheet 97 Vimercate (PDF) (new tab)
Places Sarnico Sandstone in its geological context. Identifying a rock family does not replace data for the supply.
- Sapienza Università di Roma · Travertine Porosity and Composition (new tab)
Dataset of 86 travertine samples from different Italian deposits, useful for understanding the material's variability without applying those values to Pietrarredo products.

Photographs and samples.
The photos come from the unbranded originals in the Pietrarredo archive supplied on ORICO. They are optimised for the web and show real installations or material details. They do not establish the format, batch or conditions of the supply purchased.
The wall design.
Substrate, weight, height, exposure, joints and fixings all contribute to the result. The guides help prepare your choice; sizing and installing the system require checks for the actual project.
